Donna Ashman Hastings' Story 1948 - 2025 Age 76 Jacksonville, Florida Donna Ashman Hastings, born April 30, 1948, in Nashville, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord on January 7, 2025, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was predeceased by her parents, Don and Dafoe (Sutton) Ashman. They are reunited and celebrating together with their Lord. Donna is survived by her devoted husband of over 55 years, Ned Hastings; her son Eddie Hastings and his wife Kelley (Harbison); and her beloved grandsons, Will and Wyatt. Raised in Florida, Donna graduated from Terry Parker High School in Jacksonville as part of the class of 1966. She went on to attend Mercer University, where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority and met her future husband. After college, Donna and Ned lived in Florida, Georgia, Ohio, and Tennessee before returning to Jacksonville to care for her aging parents. Donna's professional career spanned several fields, including insurance, banking, entertainment, preschool education, and hospitality. Her final role was as Hospitality Director at Chets Creek Church in Jacksonville, where she served faithfully for 20 years. A founding member of the church since 1998, Donna was affectionately known as the "Queen of Hospitality." She had an extraordinary gift for making people feel welcome and included. She also used her creativity in many areas from planning LifeGroup parties to decorating the snack area for VBS and the Atrium for Sunday mornings. Donna's passions extended beyond her family to mentoring middle and high school students and young women. She was deeply involved in organizing reunions and events for her Terry Parker classmates and was cherished for her warmth, grace, and unwavering dedication to others. A proud Georgia Bulldawg fan who wore red and black with flair, Donna also enjoyed crafting and cooking. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, faith, and service. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mentor, a friend who brought light into every life she touched. She made many friends from all the places she lived in over the years. When Donna was your friend, it was for life. A celebration of Donna's remarkable life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Chets Creek Church, 4420 Hodges Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32224.
