Michael Eugene Linnane, Sr.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Michael (Mike) Linnane, Sr., who left us on December 18, 2024 at the age of 73. He was surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren during his final moments. Mike was born on May 17, 1951 to Eugene and Madeleine Linnane in Niagara Falls, NY. He later went on to join the U.S. Navy when he was 17 years old. Serving his country and defending our freedom was one of Mike's proudest accomplishments. He retired as a Chief Yeomen after dedicating 24 years of his life to serving his country. He later worked for the Humane Society and Clay County Fire and Rescue. Mike was a force of nature. He had a booming laugh that was infectious to those around him. He never met a stranger and was friendly, outgoing, and ready to engage in conversations with anyone he met. Mike was the type of man who would give a stranger the shirt off his back to help them. He enjoyed reading, cooking, and woodworking among other things. Mike loved leading people to the lord. He was a dedicated Christian throughout his life and in his later years enjoyed talking the word of God to new and old friends alike. He often carried extra bibles in his car to give to people as needed. He ran the youth Sunday school program at his church and spent many hours running vacation bible school every summer. One of Mike's proudest achievements was being a loving father to his three children: Michael Jr., Lisa, and Rebecca and in his later years his grandchildren. He worked hard to provide for his children and made so many irreplaceable memories with them throughout his life. Mike was preceded in death by his loving wife Ida Mae Linnane in 2023 and they are now reunited in heaven. He is survived by his son Michael Linnane, Jr, daughter Lisa Linnane, and daughter Rebecca (Richard) Gustas; adored Pop-Pop of Kayla, Riley, Tristan, Katie, and Aiden; dearest brother of Thurston (Sandra) Wilde, Pat (Gary) Lockhart, Pete (Gina) Scroggins, Joe (Rose) Collier, Wesley (Vanessa) Collier, Phillip Collier, and Tom Collier; also survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at Five Points Chapel, 702 Margaret St. Jacksonville, FL at 10:00 am on December 30, 2024, with burial immediately following at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd. Jacksonville, FL at 12:00 pm.
