George Lawson Thomson

On May 9, 2021, at the age of 88, George Lawson Thomson was called home by his Heavenly Father. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1932 to George Lawson Thomson and Susan McAllister Dempster Topping who proceeded him to Heaven. He will be joining his wife, Anna Swaga Thomson to whom he was married 53 years. Also meeting him on his journey will be sisters, Jeanette Beasley, Isabelle McDonald, Margaret McIntyre and brother, James Thomson. He was a loving father to his three children, Brenda Christian, Brian Thomson, and Mark Thomson. And he was a loving grandfather to Kristina Rogoza and Brieanne Thomson. A retired Composing Room Printer from the Washington Post newspaper. He was a 62 year member of the Masonic Lodge where obtained Master Mason. A member of the Shriners Lodge where he was active in many charitable activities supporting the Shriner's Hospital for Children. Also a member of the Men's Golf Association of Jacksonville for which he organized charitable golf tournaments. In retirement, he became a stained glass artist and had a busy stained glass repair business. A member of Mandarin Presbyterian Church where he loved to sing with the choir and attend Adult Sunday School. Known for his ability to connect with people, calm manner, and loving heart, he will be missed by friends and family from Canada, Maryland and Florida. A private family service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring his life and legacy should be sent to the Shriner's Children's Hospital of Florida.
