Judson Shane Hayes
July 2, 1956 - August 28, 2021
Judson "Shane" Hayes went home to be with Jesus on August 28, 2021, at the age of 65, after a valiant battle with COVID. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he is deeply loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Shane was born to L. C. and Patricia "Midge" Hayes on July 2, 1956, in Jacksonville, FL. He attended Raines and West Nassau High School and spent most of his career working at a local paper mill. Shane's faith was an essential part of his life. Whenever giving the opportunity he loved to share his favorite verse, John 3:16. Papa Shane, as he was lovingly referred to by his family, will be forever remembered for his love for the Lord, his ministry to others, his ability to fix or build anything, playing sports, and eating seafood. After retiring in 2020, he enjoyed spending his leisure time with his family, playing golf, and going camping. Preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Hayes; his brother Gregory Hayes and his wife Debi; his children, Leslie Moore and her husband Walter, Michelle Hitchcock and her husband Shane, Michael Hayes and his fianc�e Cherish Battles, Christopher Goodwin and his wife Sara, Cory Hayes and Daniel Hayes; his grandchildren, Destiny Padgett, Bryant Padgett, Haley Bottom (Casey), Cory Hayes Jr., Hayden Hitchcock, Aleah Moore, Brody Hayes, Alex Hayes, Levi Hayes, Graham Goodwin, Wesley Moore, Grayson Goodwin, Zachary Goodwin, and Austin Goodwin; and his great-grandson Finn Bottom; along with cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 3rd, at 11:00 am, at Woodstock Park Congregational Holiness Church, 3201 Columbus Avenue, Jacksonville, Fl 32254. Reverend Wade Mask Sr. will officiate the service with music provided by Dana Hammontree and Nancy Boller. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating in Shane's memory to Changing Homelessness, Inc., 660 Park Street, Jacksonville, FL 32204.
