Norman Alan Woods (Alan) of Jacksonville, Florida, 66, passed away on August 11, 2021. The world has lost a wonderful, caring, loving son, brother, husband, father, patriot and hard worker. Alan was born on October 12, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Norman Charles Woods and Blanche Jane Woods. He followed in the footsteps of his father and joined the US Navy after high school, honoring us with 22 years and 10 months of dedicated service, retiring as Chief Petty Officer. After military retirement, Alan worked for both Honeywell and KBRwyle providing prepositioning and logistics support services for the USMC Blount Island Command. If you had asked Alan what he considered his greatest achievement in life, it was not his accomplished naval career nor his countless successes as a civilian. It was being a father to his sons Seth (Apex, NC) and Joshua (Orlando, FL) Woods, stepfather to Taylor (San Francisco, CA) and Carter (Jacksonville, FL) Blackburn, and grandfather to Zachary, Harper and Tyson (Apex, NC). Alan is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Arnold Woods, brother Paul Rollins (Katie), of Sharpsburg, GA, his sons, step-sons, and grandchildren. Alan is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. Alan will be beautifully remembered his by family and friends as a loving and devoted husband and father, faithful and loyal family man, charismatic free spirit, proud patriot and US Navy Veteran.
