William Broom

August 13, 1992 - September 3, 2021

William Joseph Knysna Broom, age 29, passed away on September 3, 2021. He was born at Roper Hospital, Charleston, SC on August 13, 1992 to William Forrest and Faith Broom, and was a member of the Wando Woods Baptist Church. Most of Knysna's friends called him "Big Red" and he was known for his calm giving nature and friendly personality. He enjoyed rebuilding cars and working on power lines. Most of all, Knysna loved spending time with his family. Since 2018, he had been on kidney dialysis. Survivors include Knysna's father Forrest Broom, mother Faith Claughton, sisters Lydia Broom and Hannah Broom Riley, brothers Caleb Broom and Joshua Broom, sister-in-law Sharlyne Marcano Broom (Caleb), brother-in-law Michael Riley, niece Annabelle Riley, and stepmother Rebecca Broom. Knysna had dear friends in Charleston, especially Jack and Mary Parker, and friends in St. Thomas, VI, where he spent his last year, before moving to Jacksonville, FL, with the hope of receiving a kidney transplant. A Celebration of Life for our dear Knysna Broom will be announced at a later date.
